$1 Waitress Dress

B loves to dress up.
I'd estimate in a typical day there are a minimum of 27 costume changes. She also usually demands to be addressed as whatever princess she happens to be channeling at that moment. The other day I called up the stairs to her and she yelled "I'm not Brooklyn, I'm a WAITRESS!"
And then she said she needed a waitress dress like Tiana in The Princess and the Frog.
A yellow one.
I had the genius idea to find a toddler size yellow dress up shirt and attach some fabric for a skirt to the bottom to make a dress. Apparently those shirts don't exist. At least not at the 15 different places I searched for one. Then I remembered the men's dress shirt to toddler dress tutorials I've seen here and there and had my second genius idea.

Men's shirts were half off at Salvation Army the day I went searching for a shirt. I bought one and made it a little too small and the fabric was pretty thin but not to fear because at $1 I was ok with scraping that and trying again. Found a Wrangler shirt, nice and thick, and got to work! This is the easiest project ever.
I added lace on the bottom because I love to put lace on anything and everything.

I basically followed THIS tutorial, minus the elastic waist.

The Model

No, you're not imagining it, the dress does need to be ironed :)

And I'm adding this last picture because it made me laugh so hard.
...She was done modeling, if you couldn't tell.

Cute idea! If I ever have a girl, I'm hiring you to make her dress up clothes. Or if Lane's ever in to that.
