A Smelly Post

So, this pregnancy has been a little more difficult than the last. Mostly because I have been extremely nauseous and had horrible morning sickness the first trimester, which I did not experience with Brooklyn. The thing that sets the queasies off the most is smells. I'm still struggling with them. So I thought I would pass on some wisdom that has been shared with me and what I have found to help ease the constant gagging.

For trash can smells: tons of baking powder in the bottom of the trash can really seems to help. Odor shield bags didn't work for me because the smell was too strong and not pleasant in my opinion and seth was allergic to the perfume. (quick side note, whenever I think or read "in my opinion" I pronounce it en mi opinion in a spanish accent. weird?)
Also if you have a baby/toddler still in diapers- I keep all of my grocery bags and wrap up the #2s right away and throw them in the outside garbage, or do the same thing every couple of #1s. Diaper genies didn't work for me, and neither does letting wet diapers sit and ferment in a hot room in a garbage. I suggest dispelling them immediately.

For kitchen smells: Pouring baking soda and vinegar down the drain keeps it from getting too stinky. We don't have a dishwasher and I've struggled finding dish soap that wasn't either too soapy smelling or too sweet. I got some Gain original scent today and I like it so far and it's not too strong. Clorox disinfectant wipes have been good to me. After B was born I became a bit of a germaphobe and sometimes letting a dishrag sit around or even cleaning with one felt like I was creating a germ army. So I wash counters down with them and the stove and everything. Leaves a nice clean scent and you feel like things are sanitized.

For Laundry: I don't know if anyone struggles with this but I thought I'd add my two cents. Seth is allergic to most things scented, and for the most part that hasn't been a difficult adjustment but I LUUUUURVE how fresh laundry smells and unscented detergent does not= fresh laundry smell. Maybe I'm weird but it really bothered me! So we compromised and he said I could use Tide (the best) if we used unscented dryer sheets. Deal. Well I got the original scent Tide and for some reason it made me queasy and does not smell like I remember. BUT the Clean Breeze Tide does! So if you want nice smelling laundry that I approve of use that. Also even using good detergent I noticed towels still seemed to stink, especially dish towels, so my mom suggested putting a little vinegar (about 1/2 cup or so) in the rinse cycle to get rid of funkiness...it works! Or if you got distracted and didn't change your load for a few hours, put it back on rinse and add vinegar, even with clothes, and you won't get that moldy smell.

That's all I can think of for now. Anyone have more smelly suggestions?

Helpful hints. :)

The only thing that I can think of is once Ryan wanted his truck to smell good, so he bought a box of dryer sheets and stuck them under the seat, opened the box of course. But, that's only if you can stand the smell I guess. We like it, but neither of us are pregnant or allergic. :)

P.S. You know the little verification word that you have to type in the post a comment? Well, on that last comment the word was "sluergic," kind of similar to allergic. Coincidence? I think not.

haha definitely no coincidence.
