Victory.

Today while doing the dishes I had to really push myself to finish the whole sink. Granted, I had taken the last couple days off from doing dishes and as a result there was quite the pile to tackle this morning. But I was motivated. Until I got to the bottles/sippy cups/water bottles. Those things take FOR-EV-ER to clean and after washing about every other dish I owned I didn't think I was up to it. I also didn't want to have an unfinished job. You see, I'm a Starter working towards my Finisher's degree, and this was basically my chance for extra credit.

Many of you know that I'm a teensy bit competitive. I also used to be a pretty good self motivator. I've had to work on it a little more since becoming a housewife/mother of a toddler. I've resorted to giving myself pep talks and using other various motivational techniques to get chores etc done. Although effective, today I had the fleeting thought that my pep talks might be a little extreme. This is seriously what was going on in my head;

Come on Carly, you can do this.
Grab those bottles and you clean the CRAP out of them!
Don't you leave them there all dirty like that- that's a bunch of bull!
NOT IN MY HOUSE, NOT EVER!

This all seemed normal to me right up to the moment I was backing up to get a running, screaming start. Then I thought, WHOA! Mucho takeiteasy! But then again, I got those dishes done and I usually would have left them for later. So although I would love to look like this after cleaning,

I'm pretty sure I look more like this.
(except with a shirt on, of course.)
