Oh, hello there blog world. Thought I had forgotten about you, hmm?
Maybe a little.
Truth is I've been freaking exhausted raising children.
Coming up with enough words to fill a post seemed like too much. Finally feeling up to the task and thought I'd share my most recent sewing projects. One of these days I'll sew something for the little Mister.
Fun fact: YaYa and I just had an impromptu photo shoot so that I could show you all of these lovely items. She was a little silly by the end.
Dress #1 I made a few months ago. I made it following this tutorial (link). She uses a pillowcase but I just used some fabric I found at my moms.

She loves standing still for pictures.
Dress #2 I made from an old dress of mine. I wore it once and then it shrunk to 1/8th its original size. I cut off part of the shirred top and made that into sleeves and hemmed the bottom to fit.

Dress #3 I made from a man's shirt I bought for $1 at Salvation Army. Love love love how it turned out. I drafted a top using one of B's shirts, made some sleeves, gathered the bottom half of the shirt and sewed it to the top. Super simple, super cute.

Dress #4 I made this morning. I used a peasant top pattern (best purchase ever) and extended it down because I didn't want a seam at the waist. Then I took a pocket off of a button up shirt and used it as a pattern to make pockets for the dress. It was my first time sewing pockets on front and they didn't turn out perfect but I still like them. I'm most likely going to add a big wood button to each. I want to make a bajillion more of these dresses. Soooo easy and I just love it.

I saved the funnest/hardest for last.
I finished the main wings a few weeks ago. Today Brooklyn was pretending to be a bird so I finally added elastic for her wrists and a strip of fabric with velcro to go around her neck to keep it on. I followed this tutorial (link), except for the neck/wrist attachments which I made up on my own. A little time consuming but such a fun project and she absolutely loves wearing them.

I originally planned on incorporating a larger variety of colors but ended up using things I had on hand instead and I must say I am digging' the blues and green. I'll probably be making more of these and can use different colors then.
Meanwhile, in the bathroom...
