princess peg dolls

The instant I saw these on Pinterest:

I knew I had to make some for B.

More inspiration

and HERE.

My friend Jackie and I ordered the unfinished wood dolls together from HERE. We split the shipping, which was more than the cost of 10 dolls. Lame. I bought a bunch of cheap craft paints with some coupons and we got together on a night the Hubbies had an Elder's Quorum activity. I thought these would be easy to bust out but they take forever! At least if you want to do a good job, which I did(want to do a good job). I think I got 2 done in two hours.
I looked at some dolls others have done but mostly drew my inspiration from the movie pictures of the Disney princesses.
Also most people did Snow White and Sleeping Beauty but I opted for Mulan and Pocahontas because B knows them better and hasn't even seen SW or SB. And I don't know if she ever will. Have you watched them since you were a kid? Creepy. I was terrified.
Anyway.
These little beauties took a lot longer than expected but I think I

NAILED IT.

Haha jk jk you guys. Brooklyn thought there should be a princess Ya Ya and wanted to paint it mostly herself. I love her big green eyes.

My version:

Ignore all the glare spots. Photography is not my forte. Nor is buying any kind of photo editing programs :]

I did put a clear finish on them to hopefully prevent chipping.
I think it's relatively safe to say this is the only set of these I will be making. Hopefully they last a while. I'm pretty satisfied with how they turned out. I just need to find less time-consuming projects. At least for the next 30 years when time for projects will be hard to find.

Oooh, so nice. I want to do these when Aves is older. Although, Tate asked to play dolls yesterday so maybe he'd like them =)
